House Fire

Road House Fire
Snyder Firefighters were alerted to a
house fire on Sunday, December 9th at 11:22 PM and when they
arrived they discovered the entire home was ablaze. They
worked quickly to bring the fire under control, but because
the fire had such a head start on them, the home was
destroyed. The cause of the fire was determined to be
carelessly discarded fireplace ashes. The homeowner had told
firefighters that he placed fireplace ashes in a plastic
garbage can the day before. One Snyder Firefighter was
treated at the scene for dizziness, but he remained on duty.
Car Crash with
Entrapment
10/29/2007 - Wehrle Drive under I-290 Overpass
Snyder
Firefighters were confronted with a challenging extrication
call on Monday, October 29th when a car struck the bridge abutment on
Wehrle Drive under the I-290 overpass. The Driver
suffered serious injuries and had to be cut out of the
vehicle. Firefighters had the patient extricated
within 13 minutes of arrival and he was quickly transported
to the hospital.
Auto accident turns into a
vehicle fire
10/26/2007 - Harlem Road at Burroughs Drive/Campus Lane
Snyder
Firefighters responded to this auto accident involving two
vehicles striking each other head on. Fortunately,
nobody was seriously hurt but one of the cars started on
fire necessitating a vehicle fire response.
Campus Truck Fire
02/13/2007 - 410 Campus Drive -Truck Fire
Snyder
Firefighters had a sticky situation on their hands when this
box truck caught on fire. The truck was used to blow
insulation into homes and was loaded with loose insulation
requiring extensive overhaul to ensure there were no hidden
pockets of fire. Insulation workers reported they were
inside a nearby apartment unaware the truck started on fire.
The fire appeared to originate in the rear cargo area, near
a motor and is under investigation. The truck was a
total loss.
Brantwood
Garage Fire

Brantwood Road – Garage Fire
Snyder
Firefighters found this unattached garage fully involved upon arrival on
the afternoon on June 1st, 2006. The fire threatened
the nearby house as well as neighboring property, but was quickly
knocked down with the rapid deployment of two 2 ½” lines. The cause of
the fire appeared to be related to a charging unit for an electric
trimmer.

Garbage Fire
5/15/2006 – Ridgewood Drive
– Garbage Fire
The driver of a garbage
truck noticed smoke coming from the back load area and
quickly dumped the contents into the dead end street,
preventing damage to the truck. Snyder Firefighters had a
messy time extinguishing this blaze.
Burroughs Car
Fire
4/28/2006 – 374 Burroughs
Drive – Car Fire
Snyder Firefighters were
alerted to this car fire on the afternoon of April 28, 2006.
They quickly extinguished the fire in this Cadillac Deville.
Burroughs Drive
2/19/2006 – 181 Burroughs
Drive
$30,000 damage resulted
from this fire that was caused by combustibles being stored
too close to the stove. Snyder Firefighters quickly brought
the blaze under control limiting damage.
