Always nice when former members stop in for a visit. Former member Martin Drexelius (pictured right) stopped in to say hello and check out the firehouse. Marty served with us from 1980 until 1983 and he has not been back since leaving New York State 40 years ago. Marty is also the son of our late Chief Bob Drexelius and he was kind enough to donate this classic Snyder metal fire helmet that was worn by his father while assigned to our 1957 ladder truck. He also gave us his father's chief's helmet and chief's dress hat that he wore while serving as chief of department from 1972-1976. Marty has enjoyed a long and successful fire service career himself, with stops in many departments across the United States. Thanks for stopping in Marty and thank you for giving us back some of our history. We promise to take good care of the helmets and the hat in honor of your father. I'm sure he would be happy to see them back home with us.
