On Saturday April 4, Snyder crews were called at approx 0845 for a bedroom fire with possible entrapped residents. Chief Van Horn arrived on scene and reported “Smoke Showing from a large 2-1/2 story brick house” and requested a 2nd Alarm. Members preformed a quick primary search ahead of the hose line and confirmed that the residents were not inside at the time of the fire. Additionally crews advanced an 1-3/4” hose line to the 2nd floor and extinguished the fire. Flames extended from the room of origin into the hallway and extended slightly into the attic. Other crews worked to search the attic for additional extension in the attic. They were met with warm conditions and moderate smoke. Truck crews provided vertical ventilation cutting through the roof. An additional back up line was stretched. Once the fire was extinguished members from Snyder and Eggertsville worked on the overhaul process and picking up the hose line, including the 4” supply line laid by Engine 2 as it made its way to the hydrant.
