Snyder Firefighters Train with Buffalo-Niagara Airport Fire Department
By Captain Zach Polvino
September 7, 2023
In September Snyder Firefighters participated in a series of drills with the Buffalo-Niagara Airport Fire Department to train on mutual aid response to the Airport. Crews utilized "Ginger" the training plane in a Hands-On Drill, and simulated a Crash-Fire-Rescue response. Snyder Firefighters worked with the Airport Firefighters to search the synthetic smoke-filled cabin of the plane and practice victim removal, stabilization of the landing gear, and place handlines in the storage hold of the aircraft. This opportunity followed up the previous week's Introduction Drill to Airport Operations. Special thanks to Airport Assistant Chief Strom and the BNIA FD for hosting this training and sharing their knowledge with SFD!
