Become a Firefighter

Volunteer Members Providing Professional Services

At the core of what we do, we provide services to our community. Being a volunteer does not mean we are ill-equipped or trained. Our Members train regularly and maintain certifications such as EMT, please see our Training Requirements! We have Line Officers who research and train extensively on all sorts of firefighting tactics and teach these at our weekly drills. We also have access to top-notch State and County Instructors and facilities to provide our members with solid, academy-level training. In addition to being provided outstanding training, our members are equipped with top-notch fire apparatus and fire gear to accomplish our job. We place a strong emphasis on professionally serving the public.

However, we cannot do it alone. We are always recruiting new members to be part of our organization. Experience is not necessary, we will provide all of the training needed to make an impact on the community as a firefighter. For many of our members, once they joined the Snyder Fire Department, they found a place where they can fit it, and a place that fueled their passion for giving back and serving their community!

Some members have joined to follow a parent’s footsteps, while others have joined from all different walks of life and backgrounds. One thing that binds members together is the desire to help and serve our community.

Some people are looking for a place to fit in and belong, for some of our members they have found that with the Snyder Fire Department. With hard work and dedication, a sense of belonging is just one of the many benefits of serving as a volunteer firefighter.

Many of our members feel a sense of duty, honor, and loyalty in service to their community, a community that has given them so much. Being a member of the Snyder Fire Department is a great place to start to give back while building your own sense of service and duty.

Who Can Join the Snyder Fire Department

Prospective Members have to be a minimum of 16 years of age to join our Junior Firefighter program, and 18 to join as a Probationary Member of the Fire Department. Our Line-Officers and Members will help guide you through your journey and help you build the life-saving skills, leadership attributes, and friendships that come with being a member of the Snyder Fire Department.

Your only limiting factor is how hard you work, your passion, and your drive as a Member.

Our Junior Firefighter Program is an excellent opportunity for High School students, male or female to join an organization that will leave a lasting and positive impact on their lives. We teach good, strong community-focused values, respect, structure, and discipline in conjunction with teaching your son or daughter how to be a firefighter. Junior Firefighters are limited in some activities, however, this program prepares them for a life of opportunities and develops leadership skills and qualities as they prepare for the next major steps in their life.
