A little after 1100hrs on Saturday Morning, November 28, 2020, Snyder Firefighters were called to a Commercial Hotel Occupancy on Sheridan Drive for an Alarm Activation. While en route, the Alarm Office notified the Chief, that there were reports of water flowing from the sprinkler system and an activated sprinkler head.
Members found a broken sprinkler head in a first-floor room. A hanger was placed on the head and sheared the Temperature-Sensitive Glass Bulb which allowed water to begin flowing. Members operated at the scene and isolated power to the hotel room, and shut the sprinkler system down. The scene was left with the Amherst Fire Inspectors office.
This is an important reminder not to hang items from sprinkler heads or to tamper with them.
